US moving warplanes and ships from risky
The US military has evacuated warplanes and ships from some bases in the Middle East due to the risk of a possible attack by Iran. Two US officials told Reuters on Wednesday. The move comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has left the world uncertain about whether the United States will join Israel in bombing Iran’s nuclear and missile facilities.
Israel has been attacking Iran since last Friday. Iran is also responding. In this situation, Trump has asked Tehran residents to evacuate. Residents began to flee Tehran on the sixth day of the Israeli attack.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Qatar issued a warning on Thursday, temporarily restricting access to Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military base in the Middle East, located in the desert outside Doha. The embassy also urged its staff and US citizens in Qatar to be extra vigilant about security as an extra precaution and in light of ongoing regional violence.
Two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the move to remove warplanes and ships was part of a plan to protect US troops. They declined to say how many were being moved or where. One of them said that aircraft that were not in secure shelters at Al Udeid were being moved. Navy ships were also being moved from a port in Bahrain, where the US military’s Fifth Fleet is based.
